Work occurring June 22 – 24 on Avondale Lane
Water service will be temporarily shut down starting at 8 a.m. June 23 (Tuesday) to four properties in Beaver Creek so crews can replace a critical valve in the public water distribution system. Affected customers are expected to be without water service for six to ten hours.
The project area is on Avondale Lane and the temporary outage is expected to affect:
- St. James
- Poste Montane
- Centennial Condominiums
- Villa Montane
Drivers should use caution as work crews will be in the roadway during the project. Single-lane traffic will be maintained on Avondale Lane and there should be minimal traffic disruptions. Traffic control measures will be in place.
Replacing the valve is essential to maintaining adequate fire protection in that area. The project schedule was planned with the affected customers and district personnel appreciate the understanding and cooperation from area businesses and property owners.
Work crews will prepare the site June 22 to minimize the duration of the June 23 water outage. Crews will stay onsite until water service is restored. Project wrap up and site cleanup will be completed June 24.
To prepare for a temporary water service outage, consider filling a bathtub or large bucket with water for hand washing and toilet flushing, and fill several pitchers for drinking or cooking needs. To flush a toilet during a water outage, pour a bucket of water into the bowl all at once. Learn how by watching this short tutorial: https://youtu.be/Grnk9p9P7Qk
Once the repair is complete, you may notice cloudy or colored water as this type of work can stir up sediment in the water main. The water is safe to drink and you can clear your lines by running faucets without a screen – such as a bathtub or an outside spigot. Flush your line until the water runs clear.
The district recognizes that infrastructure replacement projects disrupt and inconvenience our customers. It is our mission to continue to provide our service area with the highest infrastructure quality, which requires occasional service disruptions.
