Starting August 7, Eagle River Water & Sanitation District will be improving the local water infrastructure and available fire flows in the Middle Creek Village area. Work will include two new fire hydrants, valve installations, and new watermain on North Frontage Road West adjacent to the Middle Creek Village apartment complex. Work is expected to extend into late September. There will be temporary interruption of water service to properties in the area for one day during the first half of September between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. A specific date for this interruption will be provided with no less than 48 hours’ notice.
This project will impact local traffic patterns and traffic control personnel will guide traffic through the work area as necessary. Access to properties will remain open, although delays and alternate routes are anticipated. Work may occur between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The project team will minimize weekend work.
There will be additional temporary water service outages to properties as work proceeds and the new water main is brought into service. Any planned interruptions of service will be scheduled during normal working hours and affected properties will be notified 48 hours in advance.
To prepare for a temporary water service outage, fill a bathtub or large bucket with water for hand washing and toilet flushing, and fill several pitchers for drinking or cooking needs. To flush a toilet during a water outage, pour a bucket of water into the bowl all at once. Learn how by watching a short video at https://youtu.be/Grnk9p9P7Qk.
After water service is restored, properties may temporarily experience low water pressure until water lines refill. A temporary outage normally entraps some air in the water distribution system, which can cause water to have a cloudy appearance. It also stirs up sediment in water mains that may briefly cause discolored water. The water is safe to drink. To clear your pipes of entrapped air and discoloration, run cold water faucets that do not have a screen, such as those in tubs or an outside spigot. Flush your lines until the water runs clear.
Thank you for your understanding as we make the necessary and important improvements to the public water system.
