May 31: Red Draw, Redtail Ridge – emergency water service outage

May 31, 2024

6:45 a.m. June 1, 2024
The repair was completed late last night and water service has been restored to all affected properties.

Due to entrapped air in the system, residents should flush plumbing lines using cold water faucets that do not have a screen until the water runs clear.

The repair is nearing completion and water service will be restored to all affected properties this evening.

The second leak is much smaller, so can be left as is for the weekend. Crews will return Monday (6/3/24) to further investigate and plan an appropriate repair.

When water service is restored, properties may temporarily experience low water pressure until water lines refill. A temporary outage normally entraps some air in the water distribution system, which can cause water to have a cloudy appearance. It also stirs up sediment in water mains that may briefly cause discolored water. The water is safe to drink.

To clear your pipes of entrapped air and discoloration, run cold water faucets that do not have a screen, such as those in tubs or an outside spigot. Flush your lines until the water runs clear.

The water main and leak area have been exposed and repairs to that section are underway. Additional water is leaking from another section of pipe. Once the first repair is completed, crews will investigate the second leak area if daylight and safety conditions allow.

If the second leak is not able to be fixed tonight, the outage will extend to Saturday, June 1, when crews will return to resume work.

All underground utilities have been located, which allowed for excavation to begin. Once the pipe is exposed and the exact leak location determined, an appropriate repair plan will be implemented.

The emergency outage area was slightly expanded, with an additional three properties on Red Draw out of water service.

All properties on Redtail Ridge and those on Red Draw that are east of Peregrine Drive will be without water service until repairs are complete.
