Fenno Drive and Fairway Drive valve repair and water outage

October 11, 2024

Eagle River Water & Sanitation District is repairing a valve at the intersection of Fenno Drive and Fairway Drive from Oct. 14 – Oct. 16. This repair will require a temporary interruption of water service to some properties on Oct. 15 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The adjacent map shows the outlined residences that will be without water service during the repair. Affected properties have been notified directly.

Traffic control personnel will guide traffic through the work area as necessary during working hours and a traffic control light will be in place overnight.

To prepare for the outage, affected residents may want to fill containers, buckets, and jugs so that they have water throughout the evening during the outage. Water from a bucket or jug can be used for hand washing, toilet flushing or for drinking or cooking needs. To flush a toilet during a water outage, pour a bucket of water into the toilet bowl all at once (learn how to flush your toilet during a water outage with this short video) or fill the tank for regular flushing.

When the water outage is complete, crews will reopen the valves in the water main and water service will be restored. Properties may temporarily experience low water pressure until water lines refill.  The temporary outage is expected to stir up sediment that may briefly cause discolored water in some properties and will also likely cause cloudy water due to air in the system. The water is safe to drink. To clear your pipes of entrapped air and discoloration, run cold water faucets that do not have a screen, such as those in tubs or an outside spigot. Flush your lines until the water runs clear.
