Daybreak Ridge Rd. properties: turn off outdoor water until June 11 due to water main repair

June 9, 2020 – 3:15 p.m. FINAL UPDATE

The repair is complete on Daybreak Ridge Rd. and water service has been restored to all properties.

Properties on Daybreak Ridge Rd. between Elk Horn and Strawberry Park Rd. should keep irrigation systems off until Thursday, June 11, to allow time for area water storage tanks to refill.

Crews work to repair a water main on Daybreak Ridge Rd. on June 9, 2020.

A temporary outage normally entraps some air in the water distribution system, which can cause water to have a cloudy appearance. It also stirs up sediment in water mains that may briefly cause discolored water. The water is safe to drink. To clear your pipes of entrapped air and discoloration, run faucets that do not have a screen, such as those in tubs or an outside spigot. Flush your lines until the water runs clear.

Please use caution in the area while work crews complete backfill and cleanup operations this afternoon.

June 9, 2020 – 12:30 p.m.

A repair crew began digging this morning to expose the water main. A 1.5″ hole was found on the bottom of a section of pipe, likely due to a large rock that was underneath. The repair is still in progress. Water should be turned on by this evening.

June 8, 2020 – 4:45 p.m.

All properties located on Daybreak Ridge Road between Elk Horn and Strawberry Park Road should stop outdoor water use immediately due to a water supply line break.

Please turn off irrigation systems and keep them off until the repair is complete (expected by Thursday, June 11, morning).

A water main break near the intersection of Daybreak Ridge Road and Elk Horn prevents Eagle River Water & Sanitation District from pumping water to other higher elevation storage tanks that serve properties on Daybreak Ridge Road above Elk Horn. To conserve water in those tanks for fire protection and in-home use, all properties should temporarily cease outdoor water use – including automatic irrigation systems – until the repair is complete.

An emergency repair will begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday, June 9.

Certain properties in the immediate vicinity of the break are without water service. Other properties on Daybreak Ridge Road may continue using water indoors but must turn off outdoor watering systems.

Water quality is unaffected. Water is safe for drinking and other essential indoor uses.
