Eagle River Water & Sanitation District will be replacing a critical water main in the Arrowhead Ski Area along Piece-O-Cake ski run and Cresta Road. This project is expected to begin in late April and be complete by June 2025, with work suspended during the winter months. Work hours will be 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on weekdays and 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays, according to the Arrowhead Development Codes.
Work to replace the aging water main will start on the ski run and will require a partial closure of the Lower Arrowhead Loop and Lower Apache trails. A trail detour will be in place on Cresta Road during this partial closure, which is expected to last through August. Pedestrians should use caution when in the area and follow all signs and barricades.
The gate restricting access up Cresta Road will be modified during this project and the gate pedestal in the middle of Cresta Road will be relocated about 50 feet north of its current location. The gate work is expected to take five to six weeks at the start of the project and then the gate will remain open for the duration of the project. Additional roadway work further south on Cresta Road will take place over three to four weeks towards the end of the project and include pipeline replacement and installation of a new valve vault. All roadway work may result in minor traffic delays. Traffic controls and signage will be in place.
There are no planned water outages for properties around the construction area, but there may be effects from nearby outages. A temporary outage is expected to stir up sediment that may briefly cause discolored water in some properties and will also likely cause cloudy water due to air in the system. The water is safe to drink, and you can clear your pipes by running faucets, tubs, or an outside spigot.
