Eagle Park Reservoir Project:  Reclamation, cooperation, and conservation have created a new water resource for future generations. Eagle Park Reservoir, a 3,000-acre-foot storage facility located in the headwaters of the Eagle River, is complete.  Recently reclaimed by the Climax Molybdenum Company, this unique reservoir has been purchased by a consortium of west slope water users consisting of Vail Associates, Inc., the Eagle River Water & Sanitation District which serves water to the Town of Vail, the Upper Eagle Regional Water Authority which serves the mid-valley area from Eagle-Vail to Cordillera, and the Colorado River Water Conservation District.

The yield of Eagle Park Reservoir was accomplished by the support and cooperation of Eagle County as well as a precedent-setting agreement with the Cities of Aurora and Colorado Springs, which enables this facility to serve as a principal source of augmentation water for the Eagle River basin.  Financing for the purchase of the reservoir was provided by the Colorado Water Conservation Board.

The project, which had been in the works for more than four years, is now capable of immediate releases of augmentation water into the headwaters of the Eagle River to enhance streamflows during dry periods.  "The Eagle Park Reservoir is a historic project which combines the resources of state, county, and local governments with the mining industry and the ski industry," said Rick Sackbauer, President of the Eagle Park Reservoir Company Board of Directors.  "We are all very proud of this accomplishment."
